High-Quality Rubber Materials
Choosing the best materials for your rubber molding project can be a challenging process. There is a large number of rubber materials and blends to pick from, and many of these also have overlapping characteristics. Thus, a clear answer for which material is best during the initial design phase is far from common. However, choosing a reliable rubber molding company can help alleviate any confusion. Qualiform has the expertise necessary for inspecting your project and providing precise material recommendations. Creating the best rubber components requires the use of the highest quality materials available, so Qualiform offers their expertise to mold any material your product may need:
- Butyl Rubber: Lower resilience rubber
- EPDM Rubber: Ideal for outdoor applications
- Natural Rubber: An elastomer with incredible resilience
- Neoprene Rubber: Resistant to oils
- Nitrile Rubber: Exceptional chemical resistance against gasoline and oils
- Rigid & Flexible: Useful in a wide range of industries and applications
- Synthetic Rubber: A versatile, low-cost elastomer
- Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE): High resistance to flame and ozone
- Viton Rubber: Excellent resistance to fuel at extreme temperatures
What is Rigid & Flexible Rubber?
Rigid & Flexible rubber, also known as Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), is a versatile synthetic polymer. Also, it is the world’s third-most produced synthetic plastic material. About 40 million tons of this rubber is produced each year. This rubber has two essential forms: rigid and flexible. Rigid PVC is typically used in the construction of pipes, doors and windows. It is also applicable in the manufacturing of bottles, food-covering sheets and non-food packaging. Commercial PVC is a mostly transparent material with moderate toughness and excellent resistance to flame. Chemically pure PVC, however, is very brittle and offers incredibly low impact strength. The addition of plasticizers produces and flexible form of PVC. Flexible PVC is usually applied in flooring, signage, electrical cable insulation, plumbing, inflatable products and many other applications where it can replace other rubber materials. Additionally, when combined with cotton or linen, it can be used in the production of canvas. One of PVC’s major weaknesses is low light and heat resistance. This rubber will decompose quickly even under moderate heat, which also deteriorates the polymer’s properties. As a result, additional stabilizers are included in the PVC to delay deterioration.
Qualiform Proprietary BlendIn addition to high-quality rigid & flexible rubber, Qualiform provides a proprietary blend with reinforcing fibers. They mix these fibers directly into the rigid & flexible rubber, so it exhibits increased abrasion resistance, wear resistance, durometer, toughness and performance properties. Qualiform also offers this blend for their other available rubber materials:
- EPDM Rubber
- Natural Rubber
- Neoprene Rubber
- Nitrile Rubber
- Butyl Rubber
- Synthetic Rubber
- Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE)
- Viton Rubber
